I brake for Chickens

A few years ago I was driving down the road and suddenly saw out of the corner of my eye... was that a big ass chicken on a trash heap???? Well....I could not get turned around fast enough to go over an investigate. As it was I am sure I caused some mahem with my razor sharp junk reflexes....wanting to do a U-turn in the middle of the road. Yes it was a chicken on a trash heap. I could not get it loaded into my car fast enough. I came rushing home and told Sam he would never guess what I found in the trash!!!! He knows better not to utter the phrase "what are you going to do with a big ass chicken???" Because I had the perfect spot in mind.

Store Goddess / New Look for Valentine's Day

Oh how I love a sunny day! I get to stand on all 4 of my legs in front of Robbie's store. She has taken off my tree shaped hat and put hearts in my hair and tarted up my christmas tree dress with hearts. I think she is trying to get away with keeping this dress on me all year. What will she do next??? Shamrocks or dress me like St. Pattrick in March. Cover me in flowers or tax returns in April. A garland of Roses in May. June Flowers , stars and stripes in July. August I will need a bathing suit not this damn dress.

If she thinks I am going to wear this dress all year she has another thing coming.

Snow Again

The white stuff is covering the ground. I didn't think those flurries yesterday would amount to much. I was wrong.

Not sure it is enough to cancel exersize class tho.

And the sun is out. Which is a surprise since it has been dark, wet, and cold for weeks.

See if you can find Kent

Kent sent me this image with the challenge of finding him. I was worried it was taken over 25 years ago. He has changed so much. However, no sooner did I put on my reading glasses and look at the photo did I discover that Kent is the only one who got the memo to have his arms outstretched. Hmmmm...upstaging anyone???? Some things never change:)

New Artisans

Miss Sofia Brumm, Nashville, TN, begins each day at her easel. She has been mentored by Kentucky Artisan Jamison Brumm who plans for Sofia to have her first one woman show by age 5. I know when I see talent.

Cool Glass Sink in Judy George's Home

Judy's Scrapbook Room

Judy has made keepsake scrapbooks for every member of her family. This is one of many outlets for Judy's artistic talent. When Judy was designing her new home she knew she wanted a scrapbook room. This is a perfect space because one can reach items to the left and right sitting in the center of the small room. A lean mean scrapbooking machine is what the room becomes. When done.... Judy just shuts the door. Perfection! Just like her scrapbooks!

WKU Girls Gather Again

Judy George made us a delish lunch today. I was sooooo happy. Any dish is good when it comes with crumbled potato chips on top. And the cherry dump cake was a la mode. Does it get any better than that!! Photo of Judy (Cook, Poka-Dot Princess), Brenda ( Majong, Dance Lessons Queen), Marianne (Serenity,Nurse Goddess). Absent from photo me... because I am going back for seconds. A great time was had by all. May call and see if Sam and I can come over for leftovers tonight!
Brenda smelled really good.....She was wearing Happy by Clinique. I got out my check book to see what Sweet Sue's man winning fragrance is.....you guessed it Happy by Clinique.

Crazy About Poka-Dots

Judy George decorates her contempory home with Geometric Shapes but mostly dots. Which are my favorites too. Life is so much better with Dots.

Every where I looked there was some sort of poka-dot still life.
Note the circles on the back of her dining room chairs and the dots in this silver dish.

Justine Dennis / Fiber Wall Sculpture

Marcie said that almost everything is for sale...except this awesome Justine located on the cool creekstone fireplace at Marcie's Laurenceburg Home.

Vultures in Frankfort

Recently I was in our state capitol of Frankfort ,KY and witnessed 100's of vultures in the trees near the Mitch McConnel building. Hmmmmmmmmm......Metaphor ???

Kent acts out a scene from the birds. This is one of many trees where the Vultures were hanging out. Maybe 30 per tree.

Marcie's Grand Plan

Went to Laurenceburg to a big moving sale at Marcie Christensen's house. Marcie runs Francisco's Farm Art Fair in Midway, KY and plans to move there in 2010. But first she must sell everything including her wonderful home tucked in the woods. The views from every window are awesome. Marcie, a woodworker, built all the kitchen cabinets.

Chow Chow on Story Ave

Every so often this adorable dog is just sitting on the sidewalk on Story Ave. So today I pulled over to investigate. There is a chain securing the dog. I didn't get too close because clearly guarding his/her front door. Such a cute laid back dog, didn't even react to me and my camera. I called him/her Bear.

Jenny Elkins and Sweet Sue

Met the girls in Seymore Indiana. Had a car loaded with stuff that Jenny can use in her art.

Sue mentioned a man winning fragrance.....called Happy by Clinique. Sue has had three husbands so I believe her. I wrote the fragrance down on my check book just in case someone needed this information.

Snow Men Collection

More guys from my collection. Found in a flea market. Artists unknown. Metal. Pretended like I was going to sell them in my store when I knew all along I would bring them home to live with me. There is no man like a snow man.

Bug Art

Bug Art

Artist Unknown. Purchased at Edenside Gallery.
These bugs inspire me to take one of Caroline Zama's pottery classes so I can design a line of my own insects.
Both part of Kent and Rick's collection. More items to covet.

Goodwill Donation Centers / Favorite Place

I love going to Good Wills esp. in January. I find lots of props for my store. Lots of fun display items. Yesterday I ran into my friend Libby (who I ran into last week at the same Goodwill) and a few minutes later we both ran into Susan. This is a Photo of the Girls (Susan and Libby) with possible treasures.
We feared it might get cut throat will all of us looking but each were looking for different types of junk.

Crazy Daisy / Favorite Place

Crazy Daisy Antique Mall is located on Mellwood Avenue. It has two floors of wonderful stuff. And they have a flair for display. A wall of books. Vintage trays painted with chalkboard paint.

Crazy Daisy Mascot Bear. Heard the click of my flash and smiled. All Bears must be photogentic. All black male dogs must be named Bear.

Always greeted with a smile from Dale.
